First Emoticon Banned From Queens English
Each year a “List of Words to Be Banished from the Queen’s English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness” is compiled by Lake Superior State University. This year they received over 5,000 entries and ended up banning 15 words and phrases including “maverick,” “green,” “bailout,” and “not so much.”
Of the 15 entries one...

Edge Lists 20 Defining Moments of 2008
The writers at Edge Magazine on line have compiled a list of the 20 defining moments of gaming for this year. The list covers the format war ending, to E3 returning, to the Wii Fit sensation. If you’ve got a few minutes its worth the read.
It’s a well put together list and (most importantly) it includes my favorite moment of the year. It comes in at 19.

A Year Without Zelda
The Game Reviews is reporting a very interesting fact this morning. This is the first year this decade that a Legend of Zelda game hasn’t been released. When I read the article I thought it unlikely but TGR has facts to back it up.
1998 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX 1999 – No releases 2000 – Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 2001 – Legend of...

Eurogamer posts top 50
Eurogamer.net finished posting their top 50 games of the year today. Rounding off the top 3 were LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3 and GTA4 respectively. Really the entire top 10 are all very solid selections.
Eurogamer does something interesting each year, instead of just posting their list with a little description they allow the writers to each say their piece, relevant or not, about each game. The...

Leap Second
Has anyone else heard of this? This year New Years comes one second later than last year. The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (yes its a real service, I looked it up) has determined to add one second onto December 31st making it 24hours and 1 second in long. The reason for the prolonged day? The earth is slowing down and our clocks need to catch up.
The extra second...

Another Advancement in Human Killing Technology
It is well known that the human race will meet its demise from a robot uprising. We’ve already seen it in The Matrix, Terminator, and Battlestar Galactica, and yet Honda continues development on the ASIMO robot. Only a few short weeks ago they showed off three new functions of their flagship robot. All three of them scare the crap out of me.
First it can now detect oncoming humans and...

Incredible Foldable Cellable Phonable
It seems Nokia has just filed for a patent for a pretty crazy and also quite awesome “mobile communication device” … lets just call it a cell phone. The device folds up like the Jetson’s car, from a wide screen device with a full keyboard to something a quarter of the size with the aid of four hinges.
Probably the coolest thing is the screen. It maintains its full size...

once more into the breach
After thinking long and hard about what website layout, both good and bad i have decided to start blogging gameing news again. I thourughly enjoyed my time at GamerNode and i still have an affinity for Eight Bit Childhood (in both name and it being my first site) but I really like the interface and the clean look of tumblr. I am going to start rolling out articles again so, here goes nothing.
