OnLive Showoff Extravaganza
For those who don’t know, OnLive is server side gaming. The video 48 minutes so be warned, but at 19:34 he’s actually playing Crysis on an iPhone. Concept proven. Sever side gaming works. My mind is blown.
I need to sign up for this once it comes out. He dodges the question of ‘how much will games be’ by saying there are going to be...

Words With Friends
I was sucked into this game by a certain tumblrholic … now all I want to do is play. You can pick up the free (ad supported) version on iTunes or for 2 dollars you can buy it without ads.
If you have Words With Friends hit me up for a game. My user name is: eightbit.

What piece of technology/videogame are you hoping...
I’m hoping he brings me a better ATT network. I would have put ‘a camera backpack’ for my 7D, but I got one as a gift last week. Woo hoo! But this isn’t about me. What do YOU want.

Inconceivable: Microsoft No Longer Allowed To Sell...
11 years ago i4i was granted a patent for reading XML files. It seems Microsoft violated their patent and didn’t pay them for it. Back in August Microsoft was ordered to pay 290 million dollars now the judge has stopped Microsoft from selling Word as of January 11th. No more MS Word 2007 (thats the newest version) until they can fix their little XML problem.
This is huge. Word sells more...

Dell Pulls Ads from 'Jersey Shore' Over PC Claim →
Two things are happening right now that are blowing my own mind. I am linking to TMZ and talking about Jersey Shore… /headexplode.
The short version is Dell doesn’t “condone or support ethnic bashing in any form.” And now they are no longer running their ads during MTV’s Jersey Shore.

Dark Void Zero
It’s no secret that I’m looking forward to Dark Void next year. But Capcom has another surprise on the Dark Void front that I didn’t expect. An 8-bit game they are calling Dark Void Zero. It is coming as a downloadable game to the Nindendo DSi and it looks awesome. I will be grabbing this as soon as I can… suddenly January seems like forever.

The Return of EGM Also Means A New EGM Online
EGM (and every print mag) struggles with bridging content from their paper magazine and their website. They need a reason for people to purchase the magazine but at the same time cannot ignore the internet.
The new EGM has an interesting idea. When it launches in March it will have a code for exclusive web content.
The new print version of Electronic Gaming Monthly includes a special code...

Games of the year
I was asked by the Director of GamerNode Eddie Inzauto to contribute to their games of the year list. Here are selections from that list. We were allowed to select 2 for each category if we felt there were two games that stood out. Only in best handheld was I undecided.
Best Action/Adventure Batman Arkham Asylum Best Shooter: Halo 3: ODST Best Racing Forza 3 Best Strategy/Sim Halo Wars Best...

Adweek Chooses Best Commercials of the Decade →
If you were to ask me my two favorite commercials I would quickly answer “Ikea Lamp and Levi’s French Dictionary.” They both brilliantly play out like short films more than commercials and they make you smile at the end. These are just two of the ads on Adweek’s best commercials of the Decade.
I love Levi’s commercials more than I can tell you. I’ll stop...

Star Wars Fantasy
I haven’t seen this on tumblr yet, but it went up on Tuesday on College Humor. It’s more a documentary of my life than a comedy video… Also, I guess there’s another Family Guy / Star Wars movie, so that’s cool.

The tale of Lucasfilm, Skywalker Ranch, Red Tails,... →
Cinematographer Philip Bloom had the unique experience of flying to Sykwalker Ranch and showing Rick McCallum, Ben Burtt and George Lucas how you can shoot amazing high quality video on a DSLR. He spent a few days, made a short film, and got to show it on the 40 foot screen at Skywalker Ranch. He shot on the Canon 5DmarkII and the 7D.
Oh yeah, and Quentin Tarantino shows up. If you’re...

Arkham Asylum 2 Trailer
Hopefully it will be called something else, but whatever it will be called (whenever it comes out… 2011 I would guess) it is certainly the sequel to the biggest surprise of 2009, Batman: Arkham Asylum. I know I’m going to be keeping my eyes on this game.

EA CEO: "I Think Of Pirates As A Marketplace" →
2 links to other sites on the same day… I normally don’t like doing this, I’d rather provide you the reader with my own words, but Stephen Totillo had the chance to talk to EA’s CEO about videogame piracy.
His take: ”They can steal the disc, but they can’t steal the DLC.”
Interesting thought process. His goal is to turn thieves into customers by keeping...

What Lala Means for the Streaming Future of iTunes →
Great feature on Gizmodo about the recent purchase of Lala (an internet streaming music service that actually does much more than stream music) by Apple. I was going to cover it here, but Matt Buchanan does a stellar job.
The article talks about music in the cloud and how it will affect Apple, iTunes and your iPod as you know it. It’s a really great read.

As Magazines Go Digital When Do They Stop Becoming...
In the past 2 weeks the internets have been shown how Sports Illustrated and Wired magazines can make the jump from paper products to digital products viewed on tablet devices. But if you’re going to be reading magazines on a screen (tablet or not) aren’t you going to want more than just text and pictures? I would.
I really have a hard time getting excited for digital magazines. If...

Boxee Beta Unveiling - The Demo Crashes
I wasn’t going to post this at first… but It was really the funniest part of the night. Not in an “oh your product crashed let’s mock you” sort of way, but the presenter pitched it as a feature in the new Boxee! Just watch the video.

Boxee Beta Unveiling - The Boxee Box
Zach Klein reveals the Boxee Box, a dedicated set top box for all your Boxee needs. Later on during the Q&A the shape of the box was called into question. Media territory is tight why isn’t the box stackable? The answer: “it’s stackable, it just has to be at the top of the stack.”
