The 20 Nerd Commandments →
confabulationnation: A sampling… Thou shalt not question who shot first. Thou shalt acknowledge that Batman beats everyone, ever, anywhere at fighting. That’s right, he beats everybody. Even Optimus Prime. Even Darth Vader. Even Chuck Norris. He’d find a way. He’s the goddamn Batman. Thou shalt be prepared to survive the zombie apocalypse, and teach thy children similarly. Perhaps truer...

So!? Are You Getting An iPad?
You’ve heard the news.  Apple is releasing a tablet pad.  No big deal.  The question is, are you getting one? And a follow up, is this going to change your life? Heavy questions.  Answer away.  I am extremely curious to know what each of you thinks.  I’m swinging towards no here but I’ve been totally swamped at work and I need to look into it more.

Last Chance!
In rumors it goes by so many names; iSlate, Apple Tablet, iTablet, iPad, The Tablet… the list goes on.  John Gruber fancies Canvas.  I think Canvas is spectacular for all the same reasons he does. It looks good, it sounds good, and it evokes the right feelings and ideas: thin, light, clean, crisp, blank, the thing great artwork is made upon. It’s a perfect name. What do you think Apples...

Apple posts $3.38 billion profit - I declare the...
Oh it’s going to be an Apple week.  The company reported a 3.38 billion dollar profit for Q1 of 2010 (their Q1 ended January 1st… don’t ask).  iPhone sales have gone up 50% in one year and computers sales have risen 33%.  Great.  But that’s not the story here.  The story is that iPod sales have dropped 8%.  It’s true, the iPod’s days are numbered. But Apple...

Online music piracy 'destroys local music' →
Countries like Spain run the risk of becoming “cultural deserts” because of online file-sharing, the music industry has claimed An interesting read… though I’m not sure piracy is to blame here. More likely the trading of information through technology is the ‘culprit’ here. Just because Spain downloaded a lot of Lady Gaga illegally doesn’t mean that they...

Dark Void Glitches The sad part? I’m actually really enjoying this game.  It’s far better than the reviews would have you think.  But just because I’m enjoying the game doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its problems.  Aside from the glitches (which happened within 40 minutes of one another) the story is just kind of laid over the top of the game.  But it’s really...

Taking 5: DLC
Taking 5 is a weekly column where I take 5 minutes out to talk about some things that I’ve heard or read about.  Wrong information that would make me sound like ‘that guy’ if I jumped in to correct at the time.  I will try to make this weekly, but more likely it will be posted as it happens. Downloadable content is a great thing.  It extends a games life and makes you feel like the 60 dollars...

The White House. Now On Your iPhone.
Believe it. The free app features live streaming of all the president’s public events at the White House, Web chats with Administration officials, and other events such as the daily press briefings. I expect this is also going to come to (at least) Android as well.  I can’t imagine that the White House would want to get caught up in a flame war or keep its message to only one...

George Lucas Re-Edits Star Wars Opening Text The only part of Star Wars held sacred has been the opening text.  It has remained the same since … ok, thats a lie.  Lucas changed it in 1978 adding the words “Episode IV A New Hope.”  But this is what it would be if he changed it today.

Where Does Downloadable Content Go When Hardware...
Rumors are flying about the DS2, the forthcoming handheld from Nintendo.  From Satoru Iwata confirming, and then denying comments about a new handheld to EEDAR (Electronics Entertainment Design and Research) predicting that it will be announced and released this calendar year.  This poses an interesting dilema for those who want to upgrade to a DS2 and currently own a DSi chock full of downloaded...

I was recently a guest on the GamerNode podcast. We turned the normal run of the mill discussion about the best games of the decade into kind of a game show.  We had a list of 61 games and we whittled it down to a top 10 list.  It was a really fun format. You can listen to it on iTunes. But fair warning, it’s just over an hour and a half.  Enjoy.

The Bravest Game, Mistakenly Neglected →
Stephen Totilo has a series of posts labeled “Hindsight” over at Kotaku where he discusses games that have been out of the news for a little.  This is the fourth post and thus far, every time he has talked about the good parts of games that were widely considered ‘bad.’   This time he’s tackling Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Like everything coming from Totilo...
